Paleo Meal Planning and a Shopping List

I earn a small commission via affilate links at no extra cost to you.

Ever since I became a health coach people have always asked me for paleo meal plans. I’ve never created one because, on one hand, I don’t have enough recipes of my own. Secondly, I see meal planning as an unsolvable math equation. How many people do I make the plan for? What are their dietary restrictions and dislikes? In my mind, it’s impossible to make a paleo meal plan that would suit everyone. Then I stumbled across Real Plans and it is the answer I’ve been looking for. Whether you’d classify yourself as paleo, primal, keto, AIP, Whole 30, vegetarian, pescatarian, or a traditional eater they have a meal plan for you.

How Does Meal Planning Work?

You choose the paleo recipes that you’d like to eat and Real Plans creates a shopping list for you with the exact quantities you’ll need for your menu. Your meal plan comes with a shopping list that tells you exactly how much to buy for the recipes you’ve chosen. Buying only what you need saves you money by preventing food waste.

It gets even better. They organize your shopping list by departments in the grocery store so you don’t have to run around looking for things. Then, your meal plan gives you a timeline and it tells you when to marinade, prep, and defrost your dinner so you don’t miss a critical step. I am completely blown away that they can offer so much to save you time and money. It’s far better than anything I could have come up with on my own. Check out the video below to see how it works:

A  Paleo Meal Plan Customized For You

Don’t you love it? You can eat paleo but not eat nightshades or pork and Real Plans will accommodate your requests. What if you avoid dairy but the rest of your family doesn’t? Real Plans allows you to see all of their recipes at any given time. Your recipes can also be filtered by season, prep time, total time, cuisine, diet type, origin, and the course you are looking for. As you saw in the video above you can adjust the serving size from the standard size you enter when you sign up. It is great if you’re having dinner guests or you’re home alone because the husband and the kids went camping for the weekend.

Some people are fly by the seat of their pants chefs like I am. Others simply don’t eat well because they’re lost in the chaos and not sure how to make simple paleo dinners. If you need a digital meal planning fairy to help you this is by far the best I have seen and I’ve been looking to try to figure out how to bring a service like this to my readers. In the video you saw shopping lists on phones, I checked and they have apps for Android and iOs and a mini-app for Windows phones.

How Much Do Real Plans Cost?

I’m glad you asked! Subscriptions start at $6/month! You can even give someone a gift subscription or maybe hint to someone that it’s on your wish list. Here is a snippet from the Real Plans website about their pricing structure:

30 Day Wellness Journal

We have 3 options: monthly – $14, quarterly – $33 and annual – $72. The quarterly works out to $11 per month and the annual works out to $6 per month. We are a subscription service so we automatically charge at every billing interval. If you enjoy using Real Plans, we recommend purchasing the annual plan to maximize your savings. At $6/month – if we save you 1 trip to the store or one ingredient that does not get spoiled from being left at the back of the fridge… we feel we have done our job.

You can cancel your subscription in the first 30 days and you can also change your subscription plan. If you want to try it for a month and then switch to a yearly plan you can do that too.

Still not sure? You can get a one-week plan for free here.

Where Do the Paleo Recipes Come From?

The recipes featured on their site are from popular bloggers such as:

  • Nom Nom Paleo
  • The Whole 30 Solution
  • The Paleo Mom
  • Wellness Mama
  • Nourished Kitchen
  • Autoimmune Wellness
  • Paleo OMG
  • Well Fed
  • Stupid Easy Paleo
    And many more

I own cookbooks by 3 of these authors and I’ve used recipes from blog posts from all of them. That is, I wouldn’t tell you to eat something that I myself don’t eat. I send recipes to people often so I’m excited that they will be able to find them and tailor them to suit their needs. Plus being able to plan your week and meal prep, if that’s something you want to do, is fabulous.

  1. I’m a fly by the seat of my pants kind of chef too. I get bored with repetition. The one place where this would work for me is that it could potentially keep me from throwing things out that have gone off in the refrigerator.

  2. This is really cool! I am more of a fly by the seat of my pants girl, but sometimes that leaves me unprepared and unorganized! This could really help — especially when having guests!!
